WHO WE ARE

The Humanity for Africa Human Development Initiative is a non-governmental and non-profit organization focused on holistic human development of young people and other related issues on the African continent. In seeking the best way to achieve this goal, some factors have been identified as obstacles that need to be comprehensively assessed and decisively addressed in order to significantly improve human development on the continent. .

In Africa as a continent, the lack of unity and peace caused by the absence of love is something very disturbing time today. Many families are in disarray, an unhealthy competition for earthly riches, positions or power.

The integration of families into the larger society has left our continent in its most disjointed form with little or no cohesive force to fully realize its capacities as a continent. It is possible for Africans to break free from the shackles of poverty and underdevelopment in the spirit of love, patriotism and solidarity. Moreover, the high price of good living standards in the continent is worrying. The deteriorating economic situation in Africa, particularly in Nigeria with its multifaceted problems of low living standards, higher unemployment, limited income, high poverty rate etc. has placed a great burden on both parents and children in the family. Due to broken families and hardships, many children in the family have been subjected to child labour, child abuse and neglect which has had a negative impact on their moral and social development and adaptation to the society at large.

Finally, the world has become a global village. With globalization comes unprecedented intercultural relationships that are ubiquitous and enriching. These intercultural opportunities have side effects which include the swallowing of developing cultures by already developed cultures. For example, blinding.

The disempowerment of African values by western cultural patterns, attitudes and values is visible for all to see. This moral and value decay is more evident among youths as they are the ones who primarily interact with the outside world. We are now witnessing an obvious confusion because we have a group of young people who are neither here nor there. This situation requires an urgent response to reorient and empower our young people, the leaders of tomorrow who will keep the ship of African culture and values afloat. Hence the need for this movement calling for “HUMANITY FOR AFRICA”.
